Dynamic images are responsive image files that change depending on input for specified variables.
For example, you might send your users personalized birthday cards wishing them “happy birthday” by name. When you include a variable field for the first name in the dynamic image's URL, Unifyr automatically reads a recipient's first name from your contact list data for the recipient and changes the image to display that first name. Use a dynamic image in combination with a variable field to create a unique experience for each user.
Along with your dynamic image, provide a static backup image in case Unifyr fails to process the variable input (for example, if the user's first name is not available in your contact data).
To add dynamic images:
- Navigate to Partner Portal > Custom Pages.
- Open the custom page you want to edit.
- In the WYSIWYG content editor area, add an Image content block.
-
Insert a static image using the image browser or enter a URL to a dynamic image that includes a default variable value. This will be the fallback image that the user will see if the variable of the dynamic image doesn't match for them.
For example, the URL might be https://img1.niftyimages.com/ovd/sp8/nxq?txt=Partner.
The service you use to generate your dynamic image (for example, Niftyimages, Fresh Relevance, CountdownMall) provides the URL.
- Click into the image content block that contains the static image.
-
In the Content Properties menu, toggle on the Dynamic image option.
-
Input the URL to your dynamic image in the Dynamic Url field. Ensure you include a Unifyr dynamic variable in the URL (for example https://img1.niftyimages.com/ovd/sp8/nxq?txt=[FirstName]).
A list of permitted variables can be found in the Glossary under the term Variable Fields.
- Click Save at the top of the page to confirm the change.
When the user sees this content, their first name will be published in the message.
If there is a mistake in our data that prevents Unifyr from displaying the user's name, the image will automatically fall back to the static image.
