Managing Contest Activities

If you’re providing contests to your partners to encourage their engagement in your channel program, you’ll need activities that they must complete to earn points in the contest and be successful.

Once you've created your activities in Partner Management > Gamification > Library > Activities, you can add them to any of your contests. Each activity has a default points worth that a partner can earn for completion - this can be customized when an activity is selected for a particular contest.

There are two types of activity in a Unifyr portal contest:

  • On-platform activities - these are completed in the partner portal, for example registering deals or taking your courses, and you specify which action trigger will verify them as completed when the user has taken the action (Automatic verification).
  • Off-platform activities - these are activities that a partner can only carry out outside your partner portal, for example attending a trade show. You may want to specify that partners taking these types of activity must submit proof to you before they are awarded the points for them (Manual verification).

Each activity can be given a limit to the number of times a partner can complete it and receive points each time while the contest is active - once only (Single Completion), up to x times (Repeatable + Max Limit), or as many times as they want (Unlimited).

Create a contest activity

To create an activity that partners will complete as part of a contest:

  1. Navigate to Partner Management > Gamification.
  2. Go to Library > Activities in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Complete this information:

    Setting Type Description
    Name Text

    The name of the activity.

This information is shown to partners in the activity details - see Partner View Preview to see how it will look.

    Maximum length - 100 characters

    Description Text

[Optional] More information about the activity, shown to partners in the activity details.

This information is shown to partners in the activity details - see Partner View Preview to see how it will look.

    Maximum length - 64,000 characters

    Verification Type Dropdown list

The way in which completion of the activity will be confirmed, so that the partner can get points for it.

    Choose from:

    • Automatic (default) - usually for activities carried out in the partner portal, verification will happen automatically when the partner has completed the specified action.

Specify the action in the Platform Trigger field and give some further criteria (depending on the trigger you select).

      For example:

      • Platform Trigger = Campaign Activation
      • Additional Criteria = Specific Campaign (optional) and Number of Campaigns

For more information about the available triggers, see Available triggers for activities.

    • Manual - usually for activities that can't be tracked in the partner portal, partners and supplier need to communicate to verify completion. You can enable the Proof Required option to specify that the partner must upload physical proof of completion (URL or file upload).
    Platform Trigger Dropdown list

The action for the activity - the partner will get points for this in a contest when they complete it in the portal.

You can add criteria to further define the action, depending on the trigger you select.

For more information about the available triggers, see Available triggers for activities.

Available if you've selected Automatic as the Verification Type

    Proof Required Checkbox

Whether partners must upload physical proof to show that they've completed the activity.

If this isn't enabled, the partner only has to provide notes to confirm completion of the activity.

If enabled, these types of proof are accepted:

    • File Upload - PDF, PNG, JPEG/JPG, or GIF, a maximum of 10 files at 10MB each
    • URL

Available if you've selected Manual as the Verification Type.

If you give the Proof Required requirement for an activity, users that are listed as Weekly Notification Recipients for contests that include the activity will receive a weekly email inviting them to review partners' submissions. Review is done in the Partner Management > Gamification > Manage > Review Queue page. For more information, see Create a Contest and Review Proof of Completion Submissions.

    Note

For an activity based on the submission of a Custom Object (custom information type), proof and points may only be fully granted once you have approved the Custom Object submission itself, too, if the Custom Object is set to Require Approval. For more information, see About Custom Objects and Submissions.

    Default Points Text

The default number of points available for this activity.

You can override this value for completion of the activity in a specific contest.

    Maximum: 1,000,000,000

    Completion Limit Type Dropdown list

The amount of times the partner can complete this activity and get points for it.

    Choose from:

    • Single Completion - once
    • Repeatable (Max Limit) - up to x times. Specify the limit in the Max Completions field.
    • Unlimited - as many times as they like
  5. [Optional] If you're not ready to make the activity available to add to a contest, enable the Inactive toggle. It's set to Active as a default.
  6. Check how the activity will look to your partners in the Partner View Preview area.
  7. Click Save.
